Keith,
Can we help Tony Marigold find his 1932 M Type?
He discribes the M type as "a 2 x seater, soft top fabric swallow tail which had been replaced with an aluminium and wood tail. It has marchal headlights all-fin brakes Reg MG 490".

The reg no MG 490 is still extant, but possibly not on the original car.
Certainly MG 493 still sits on 2M 1425.

MG 490 was originally issued to 2M1265, this car is not known to the Register.
