Has anyone out there got a spare bowl for a Rotax L140 headlamp for my J3, With or without the mount. Mine has a large dent and severe cracking. Dave J3758 |

I have a brass headlamp bowl with King of the Road emblem and R140 stamped in the underside steel base. It also has three spring clips around the inside of the front of the bowl. It has a few minor dents but with a little TLC could be made very respectable. Is this what you are looking for? I can send photographs. Powerplus. |

Thank you Richard, I will look at the one from power plus at first, as it sounds very promising. Thank you , powerplus, sounds right to me. I believe that Lucas took over Rotax and continued the model using the prefix L. Please send some images to daveroberts.redlodge@sky.com Dave J3758 |

After looking at the bowl from powerplus, there is a big difference between the Rotax 140 and the Lucas R140. I have photos of both but no idea of how to attach them to this post. Dave J3758

Dave,
Click on 'Reply to Topic' just below the last post on the thread. You'll then get this page
If you click on the little paper clip immediately below the window where you enter text where it says 'Click here to attach a photo to your post' you will then be given the option to select photos from your computer. Pick the photos you want and attach them to your post.
Simon J J3437 P.S. When you say 'Rotax L140' are your lamps actually marked with that designation? Rotax lamps are generally K624 and it's Lucas ones that are marked L140 although there were apparently Lucas lamps with Rotax badges, perhaps to meet contractual requirements to supply Rotax lamps. |

Simon, My bowl has the Lucas badge in the usual place, but around the inside periphery of the bowl are three spring fittings which presumably secure a Rotax type reflector in position. The mounting boss is stamped R140. However when the side profiles of the bowls are compared my lamp clearly possesses the Lucas shape. Something of a mixture, but undoubtedly original. Powerplus.

I have been barking up the wrong tree. I was under the false impression I had Rotax L140 lamps on J3758. I have removed the 2mm of paint around the boss and there is clearly stamped K624/2.thankyou Simon.
So, has anyone out there got a a useable bowl for a K624/2 headlamp by Rotax/Lucas with or without the mounting boss.

Hi Dave, if you do a search on the subject of Rotax K624 lamps you will then appreciate these are indeed as rare as 'chicken teeth' ... I would advise getting a professional to repair the lamp ... it may prove cheaper too.
