This remote is currently coupled to J2 box, from which vehicle would this remote have originated from?

I believe that it is the remote from the manual version of a K type.

I had that suspicion as it has some similarities to the K Type preselect remote but had no pictorial reference to confirm, thanks for that!
Seems that the MG logo has been filed off for some unexplained reason.
