I would like to thank Marc Aubert, Barry Foster and Oliver Richardson for their help with K2008's move to South Africa. I can report that she arrived in Cape Town last week and has been successfully towed the further 2000 km to White River. I am sure that "Kaytoo" will be here for a long long time. Thanks.

Hi Rodney
What a lovely car and a lot different to your plan to rebuild your old N type which is now being rebuilt by it’s new owner in Holland.
Happily the car is being rebuilt as a standard bodied 2 seater N rather than being made into another K3 lookalike.

Yes, what a lovely looking car. Pardon my ignorance, but are those headlights and fixings original to this car, as they look very much like those on the M.G. 18/80 MKII. Keith |

Keith,
Yes those lights were fitted to K2's and some KN's.

Malcolm, Can't see in the picture of your car, but are the lamps rear mounted on a diagonal chromed support between the rad and the wing? Interestingly I went searching for an N Type many years ago and because I couldn't find a suitable one at the time I ended up with an 18/80! Keith

Hi Keith, A couple of photos showing the bracket for the lamps.. Hope this helps. Don’t forget the ND had a K 2 body on the N Type chassis. Malcolm Sorry the photos are upside down.

Rod/Keith Interesting to see the fixing point at the rear of the headlamp. This may explain why mine, which have fixing underneath, are so close to the wings and the side of the radiator. What is the diameter of the glass? Malcolm |

What's the old saying- they're all the same, but different? Rodney, your lamps are very similar to my 18/80's but even so, yours has the wire feed through the casting. Some have an octagonal large nut on the back. The glass diameter is 10inches.I have seen both types on other MKII 18/80s. Malcolm- your lamps are very similar to those on the MKI 18/80, with that bottom fixing and probably a 9 1/4 glass. Amazing how these threads develop and add to our general knowledge of our cars. My headlamps are I think Lucas 150’s with a more bulbous front section as can be seen in the photo. The glass diameter is 9.25”.

Hi Malcolm. Here is my K2 rim. I find it strange that there were so many variations on the Rotax theme.

Malcolm, the headlights on your blue ND seems to be the LUCAS R160S, as I have the same on my ND. A totally different type are the ones fitted to the K2s. They were expensive and the part No. was A407 + brackets 2610 and 2611.
On a KN "University Special Speed Model" of a friend of mine, those K2 lamps were specially supplied. -- see type and part numbers below -- Gerhard
