I'm trying to fit a front cross-tube to my chassis and am having difficulty sourcing the inserts that fit inside the tubing and secure the front spring eyes.
What I'm wondering is if anyone has any spare inserts (I've asked Andy King who's out of stock) so asking if anyone has an old spare x-tube in any condition but with the inserts that I could retrieve.
Although these inserts are reasonably easy to make...but do require a lathe and a mill ... If you were to do the following: 1. Cut the ends of the bent tube leaving two inches from each end. 2. Chuck these ends in a lathe and machine off the old tube to release the inserts. 3. Pin and braze the inserts into the new tube. (remember they are clocked).
You end with a new, dead straight tube. Best, Chris
