I met an old chap in his 80's last night, who's first car was a PA, the registration number was MG 3473. Does anyone know if this car still exists ? It would be great to tell him it does.

Hello Nick. Yes, it appears that MG 3473 (Chassis number PA0323 - a very early PA) has survived and lives in Germany. When our Registrar who looks the P Series cars wakes up, no doubt he will be able to tell you more.

Colin Butchers (another old chap in his 80s but wide awake at 10.13 on a Sunday morning).

Ah - but the old boy who looks after the PAs, and is also Secretary, is in a Triple-M Committee meeting in Abingdon as we speak! It started at 10.30 am!

Nick - Dick will be very pleased to receive more information and be able to update the records for PA0323.

Good evening all (rubs sleep from eyes ....) and thank you, George for the alibi

Yes indeed, PA0323 it is and when last known about (1989) was in Neu-Ulm, Germany. There have been no reports or updates and alas we have no photos of the car. It appears that the car has been in the same family since 1980. We have no owner date before 1964. The factory file (not in my possession) may reveal more clues....

Nick, whilst wishing to respect personal data protection, can you recall the name of the gent you mention? There are several owner names on file which in the interests of propriety I will summarise briefly as follows:
1964 Bartlett
1967 Andrew
1967 Harding
1969 Burchell
1971 Rankin
1978 Moon
1980 - date 2 x Junghans

Thank you to the people who have replied to my posting. I only know the old chap as Colin, even though I've known him over ten years. No idea of his surname. I know where he lives and will pop over to see him in my PA, as he said he would love to see it. PA0323 was his first car, so he may have owned it in the late 50's or early 60's.

I've just looked Colin up in the telephone directory and his surname is Taylor. It would be great if he has an old photo. I'll keep you all posted after my visit to him in a day or so.

I visited Colin Taylor this afternoon in my PA. He lent me a photo of him standing next to MG 3473. Can't see how I can put the photo on this message. Also one of him taken today sitting in my own car.

Hi Nick,

It's quite easy to add a photo here, but if problematic for you, just e-mail it to me and I will add it!

I've sent two photos to you Dick. Would you be kind enough to publish them on here please. Thanks, Nick.

And here they are!

Colin Taylor with PA0323 at Prescott, 1971. He had sold it a few years before, but came across the car by chance when he was visiting for a hill climb.

And on 27th November 2018 in Nick Poll's PA1709

Brilliant. Thank you Dick. Colin is a real gentleman and will be proud to be on here. At least the register of cars now has a photo of PA 0323
