And to be fair to SAIC, didn't they finish the development of the K series engine? Perhaps the nearest we will get to the triple-m engine in modern times.

Not. MMM but I think it’s an MG practical and comfortable. It’s my everyday car, far more relaxing than a modern car

Is naming a car ‘Hector’ any worse than calling one ‘Midget’?
It was a good enough name for Hawker to use it for an aeroplane in 1936....

Thanks Colin, It is a very useable car the engine is slightly upgraded and has a higher back axle plus a Ford 5 speed gearbox and TR6 wheels, not everyone would approve, but I like the look. We bought our 1931 F1 in 1970 and my wife used it for work, it did seem quite an old car then , it was only 39 years old. The 1957 Magnette still feels relatively modern but its 62 years old. I do think vintage car clubs should embrace later cars. The VSCC policy of nothing made after 1930 is rubbish, is way out of date. Any guesses where the car is?

I think Hamish that Hawker was thinking of The British Grenadiers when it named the Hector. I doubt MG Motor has even heard of it!

I didn't think that any cars were assembled at Longbridge it is just the design and sales centre. The MGCC has held their general meetings there in the past, probably still do.

The Chinese have managed to land on the moon .when I was still employed I came across some very impressive Chinese engineering. The build quality of European cars in the 70s was dreadful, like it or not I bet this car is well put together.
