We own the remains of J2 J4129 in which Dudley Howard Cottingham and his friend Marjorie Emily May Gush died in 1935 when the car overturned in Field End Road, Harrow. There is an archived Topic on here somewhere but not sure how to access it.
We discovered the dismantled remains of J4129, mixed in with the dismantled remains of J2353 here in Cyprus, where we are on holiday at the moment. The remains were shipped back to the UK and I am in the process of rebuilding both J2s.
Whilst here, I put ' Dudley Howard Cottingham ' into google and found a new post with the address https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper article/84177097/8425936 . This is an archived article in ' The Daily News ' ( Perth WA 1882-1950 ) part of the National Library of Australia. The article is a report on the accident, also not known to me before and reported is DHC was involved with the Monte Carlo Rally.
I cannot ( from Cyprus ) add the article to here, but maybe another member can from the UK. Does anyone have any information on DHCs involvement with the Monte Carlo Rally ? or maybe where to look . Thanks.

If this is the wrong section, maybe Nick can transfer to a more suitable one., Thanks.

The obvious starting point for Monte information is British Rally Drivers — their Cars and Awards, by the late Donald Crowbourne.
I have a copy so will see if I can find anything |

Well the bad news Chris is I can find no record of Dudley competing in the Monte. He does not appear as the entrant in any of the events (prewar at least).
This does not mean that he wasn't a passenger but that isn't recorded anywhere I know

Thanks Kevin, maybe he was just a passenger, or even an onlooker. I will archive the information with the diary of J4129, who knows what other material may be ' out there ' . I am trying to find any living relative of either Dudley or Marjorie, no luck yet, I have some small snippets of info. that the family may have emigrated to US or Canada.
Thanks for looking Kevin.
