Dear Forum:

Anybody recognize this PB?

It was a brave person who went under the car on the hoist to take the pictures! The rear of the car looks to be supported just on the body frame

Sadly the Registration number VL 6878 does not appear in the Register's records.

I note this is the same dealer who last month sold a rare but tired looking 2 seat NB. Despite being asked the dealer did not supply a chassis number for the car which appeared to be unknown to the Register.

George and Forum:

Sadly; this dealer often has interesting cars.
The photos of the underside of car are at odd angles.
So that issue remains open.
I have emailed to ask for identification details.
So time will tell.
Does anybody recognize it.?
All the best.

What a curious confection-a quick visit to the trimmers and an economy spray job and there you go! Not sure about the wisdom of pushing the exhaust pipe through the chassis side member? Simon C.

I too have made enquiries. I note a PA petrol cap and a radiator without slats. The nondescript dash also looks more PA than PB...mmm, I wonder...

Graham

Simon

But the rocker box sports an MG badge......!

Bonnet is a sound fit and the radiator mesh looks like plastic netting? My L2 had such an arrangement when I bought it.

The engine was hardly worthy of mention...

Looks like a Leyland era Midget engine & gearbox to me so surely just a factory replacement/upgrade for a PB 'Midget'! Who's going to quibble about a few decades difference in production dates - certainly not Beverley Hills Car Club it would seem!!

I have had contact with the seller and have received a wealth of photos, which in the main serve to demonstrate that this car has an unusual power and gear train! No ID information yet received, but I hope for more info later.

Seems to me a good example of how not to restore a Triple-M. I had fun for a while working through the photos playing "spot the mistake", but when I got to the engine I gave up in disgust. Could they not at least fit twin SUs? And painting the top of the exhaust pipe but not underneath! Does it really go through the chassis? Interesting tyres.

From information supplied by the selling dealer is quite possible that this car is in fact PA2076, a late series production PA rather than a PB as advertised. The registration VL 6878 is consistent with a Lincolnshire first registration for this vehicle.
Currently exchanging information with the dealer which may confirm the situation one way or another.

Did the body survive the test or did the chassis fall off ?

Let’s hope Sam this is the last MMM car to pass through their hands if this is how they abuse them. Not sure if it is abuse or, lack in any basic common sense
