Dear All,
I'm currently in the process of rebuilding my J2. I will be putting a volumex s/c at the front of the car. Are the J2 front springs ok for this or should I be considering stiffer springs? Many thanks! Bob

Hi Bob,
Your project will be similar to a J3, and they were fitted with uprated springs as shown on page 475 of Blower. They had 8 leaves on the J3 compared to 7 on the J2.

Spring compression rates were as follows:- J2.......290 Lb/inch

J3.......436 Lb/inch.

I believe this detail is one indication that an unstamped chassis could be a J3. The rear springs on the J2 and J3 are identical, by the way.

Regards..........Dave

Cheers Dave,
so is it just a matter of finding a new leaf to insert? I do have two sets of J2 front springs. Will look for my copy of 'Blower' and have a look. Thanks
