An old topic from 2008 re oil leaking through the gearbox selector blades:-

Ian,
you can bandage the circumference of the pack of selector blades with one or two layers of (black) 1,5 inch plastic tape. Envelop the tape at the top and bottom side, so it replaces your top and bottom paper gasket, and between the blades the oil canÆt escape.

I have finally got round to implementing this idea. It must rank as one of the best 'tips' I have come across in my limited time as the owner of a Triple-M car.

• It is very simple
• It is easy and quick to implement
• It costs virtually nothing
• It cures an annoying problem very effectively

Many thanks Gerhard, my gearbox is oil free, on the outside, for the first time.

And even referred to in the MMM June "Safety Fast" notes.
