I think it is the ground ..... the picture is just to the left of centre so the o/s shows the inner surface of the wing and the n/s the ground ... I think.
Yes, Maurice , l wondered what that was but I’m sure Robin is right when l look at it again. Strange that for a driver who did a lot of trials he has retained the swept wings and not replaced with cycle wings .
It would be of interest as well to see good color photos of the badges.

Hopefully i have managed to attach photos of two of the badges,the RAF badge ) my late father was a pilot in the RAF at Cranwell during the early 50's.('A' Squadron 1952). i think the other badge above and to the left is the chester motor club but i'm not sure. i cant find a photo of the RAC badge or the MCC badge bu when i do I shall post them on here.
