Enjoy your night's rest James! When you surface, I'd always thought that the piece forming the cap was slit at those points in order to allow it to form a sort of dome? The vinyl would then cover and of course strengthen it there. I wonder how many of the more recent Triple M owners have seen your Dad's advert where he is wearing one?

Wonderful photo Bruce. So I was right but I was wrong; I'd thought the cable passed underneath the whole way rather than surfacing for a short distance. Is the cap then attached to the main carpet all around except at the front? This would seem sensible to me.

Donald there is no difference here between the two models as the speedo and mileometer (hate that o*****er word!) are in the same place. The barn find referred to above is a PA but has an angle drive as my PA had 50 years ago and I presume for the preceding 32 years of its life. As you say though, some choose not to have one.

Goodnight,

Dave

Thanks for clarification Dave and apologies James I hope I haven't given you a headache.
Perhaps the carpets can be left for the hat to be added at the end, either a hat on or hat off version to order.
If you can do that James, I will take my hat off to you.

Anyone who wants email me collingburn@btinternet.com

Hi Peter,
There seems to have been 2 different styles of carpet for J2/F2 and L2 and I can't assume they were all the same.
There was one that was all sewn together, similar to the Ptype but not the same.
and another which was more simple and in seperate peices that were laid in the car and over the trans tunnel.
I need to know which was early, which was late in J2 and F2s.
Don't worry about L2s as they only made 90 of them and I would offer an L2 owner either or, they do their own research.
Click the link to see the J2 carpet thread and feel free to offer any info http://www.triple-mregister.org/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10763&SearchTerms=j2,carpet

Glad to see you are up and running again...

Looking forward to when you progress to Fs and Js.

cheers

P
