I have searched the register for information on sill plates to establish whether my ND Magnette should have them and if so where I could obtain some. The only reference is a post in 2012 which shows a photo of a P Type with a sill plate just visible. I don't seem to be able to find them on the internet. Can anyone help please? |

Hi Malcolm We can help if ND doors are the same as NA/NB? We have the larger engraved door sill plates in stock, which have been newly manufactured. Andy |

Malcolm,
I used original N type door sill plates when I rebuilt my ND (NA0500), I did however have to shorten them slightly and reduce the width a little because they were slightly too wide for the woodwork on the body.

And while we're on the subject can anyone please confirm for me if J2s had door sill plates, but if not how best to neatly finish off that area ?

I have a photo of an N type in the factory dispatch area, the drivers door is open and no sill pates are fitted. I am not certain what model it is but it has the long chrome windscreen base. |

Hmmm ... very definitive! Are you sure? Door 'tread plates' are listed for the NA but not for the PA or PB nor for the J2.

That photo is of the prototype.
My NA has had tread plates from new but they are different to the ones on P types etc and the ones I've seen that have been reproduced. The car was restored for it's only time in the 70's when they didn't have the luxury of remaking these and as factory N types are very rare here, there was nothing to copy.

The larger engraved door sill plates which have been manufactured are pictured here together with measurements, which I hope will help.

Hi Andy My sill is 23inch long by 1.5 inch wide. The larger plates look to be 1.625 inch wide so would be too wide and require reducing in width. Are the smaller ones in the photograph available? Thanks Malcolm |

Yes, Simon J, I was definitive insofar as J4199 had door sill plates as found (which were well worn) and I would be surprised if these had been "retro fitted" knowing its history. Simon C. |

Also Simon, My PA came with a pair of very beaten up ones, although they weren't actually fitted.
