As you can see previously from the Mary Harris lists and the MGCC races, we use the terms as Fred points out, D to C spec or J2 to J4 spec etc. I simply cut and pasted the VSCC entry list sent to me. I usually update before posting and will make sure I do in future.

It depends upon what the owner said on his VSCC "buff form" eligibility application. It looks like the car should have been classed as a modified J2. If the application said J4 and the supporting photos looked like a J4 it would probably have slipped through. We do see from time to time P types entered in VSCC events as Qs, even though they have the wrong track, wheelbase and cc. Strangely the same does not seem to happen with Rileys, as we get modified saloons with shortened chassis, TT Sprite bodies and 200 bhp still called "Kestrel".
Regards,
David

You are correct David, the VSCC simply pull the description from the title used by the owner when he/she registers the car with them.

The VSCC have clearly 'allowed'/not noticed that the owner has declared their car to be something it is not.

Ultimately it is the owner who is most at fault, in my view. They know what their car is and have described it, in this example, as a J4 when they know it to be a J2.

Surely if you own a J2 and it is shown on the VSCCs system as a J4, you would contact them to correct it ???

I suggest that the owners in question, send a note to the VSCC to say that their car is in fact a J2 not a J4. Problem solved..........

Excellent point Duncan .Going back to MGCC races how can a J2 styled as a J4 rep be described as a J2 to J4 spec and a D as a C rep when 4.2 of the register rules stated here a few days ago says it should be called a J2 or D? If rules are laid down they need to be adhered to not change depending on the event/club.

Guys can I have my Thread back!

I m sure there will be a few conversations at Cadwell.....in principle i cant disagree.

Sometimes I m in a difficult position, trying to encourage people to race and fill the grids. I don't want to then tell them their car isn't what they say it is, although I do at times or others support. Also I don't want to stir the politics of a selective club like the VSCC with different rules on eligibility.

I m trying to find a balance between the rules and the owners view. But hey I m open to support, I cant spin any more plates!

This discussion is not new, so can I have my positive thread back on Cadwell. 2 capacity grids!!

You are right Mr.D, we have gone off piste a bit here !

I was only enthusing this morning with Chris C. about Cadwell, both very much looking forward to it... (The said Chris C. being the king of Shelsley Walsh hillclimb of course, well Class 1/2 anyway !)

On a social note, I guess most of the MMM'ers are getting there Friday night ? Emma and I, and probably the girls, will be camping on the Friday night, might even bring some Ghost Ship !!

We will be there mid-afternoon on Friday , bringing a smallish barbeque and helping to set up ; and of course , looking forward to Duncans 'Goat Shi* !' Pleased to see we have , yet again, an excellent turn-out of MMM cars for both days.

Gill and I are coming up for the weekend – arriving Friday sometime, staying at the Splash pub just down the road at Little Cawthorpe. Available to help and join in any shenanigans.

Now returned from Zandvoort safe n sound...... Car still in one piece and ready for Cadwell. In terms of logistics and kit, we will get up there mid afternoon to help with securing paddock space and setting up and will bring a small BBQ which would do for 6/8 people, gazebo, small table and the gas burner that cooked 100kg of onions at Brands ......

If anyone is interested, I could bring one of the polypins (36 pints) of ale similar to that taken to Brands.....(might need small ££contribution from participants)... Can't imagine there will be any interest...

Looking forward to it.

(Zandvoort excellent event, 6 MMM cars racing.... Fred, Thijs, Andrew M, David C, Hamish and me.... all MG cars and drivers went well, sun shone and the sea was warm !...I am sure photos etc. will appear at some stage...)
