A couple of picture of NA 0444 taken in the early 1940's. The body is believed to have been built by Martin & King, the car being imported as CKD in 1935. The First owner was J Manton.

From the Alan Bail collection.

Andrew, thanks - what delightful pictures! The last we heard of this car was that after a time in Singapore (2004-9) it went to Switzerland in c.2009, whence it was sold to persons unknown. If you have any other info about the car's sojurn down under I know George Eagle (registrar for the Ns and some other 'sixes') would be keen to hear from you!

Hi Dick,

I understand that it ended up in the Ed Ison collection and then to Malcom Robertson. At that stage it was described as a basket case. It then passed to John Hunting in Western Australia where it was rebuilt with an NE type body and S/C. I believe that John sold it to last known owner in Switzerland.
Other owners included Frank Walker,Les Everitt and Steve Woolnough.
Original Engine was 725AN, first registration was on 6/2/35 with Victorian registration number 67 (which must have been a privately owned plate). It was subsequently registered 83-391 on 6/12/37 ( indicating a change of ownership) and then FJ-917 on 1/2/42. That was the last recoded registration in Victoria. The last owner I have is Ronald Zieltjes.

regards,

Andrew

Thanks Andrew

Our database is/was silent about the original engine number. Regarding owners, we have:
"Ed Ison to-'00, Glen/John Hunting 12/00-9/04, Peter Chan (Singapore) 9/04-3/09, Ronald Zeltjes Switzerland who has sold car on"

And yes, we have a note "rebuilt to NE spec, s/c."

No doubt George will pick up on the useful info you've given.

If it's the dark red N special it was in a Swiss auction last year sometime.

I think this is the car rebuilt in Australia in the style of an NE which then went to an owner in Singapore and from there to Switzerland.
