I was going to go for K3016 for the second car from the left and K3030 for the car nearest the camera!

The car to the extreme left barely showing is interesting.

I also noticed the car and thought it might be an Alvis?

A Mercedes,38/250SSK? A white one owned by a VSCCV member trying to remember the name, friend of my father. Laurie Roff.

That was my guess Nigel. I had a look at one or two pics and decided not to stick my neck out, but if you used to know the owner......

Yes it might be the Merc but it looks smaller than a big Mercedes would? My father owned a 1929 38/250SSK. Our family car, Mum did the shopping in it! Regarding Otto Stones K3, it used to sit in a car showroom in Melbourne, I bought my MGB from the dealer. I often walked past admiring Stones car, it looked super back in those days.

Hi Nigel, had a look a the original. I don't think its a Merc. but can't quite tell what it is. My father used to tell of visiting Otto Stone and Les Murphy for advice and parts. Les of course ran Esquire Motors in Elsternwick near the Cinema. Seemed that the MMM fraternity in Aus was very friendly even then!

How's the L progressing?

regards,

Andrew

Hi Andrew
I was going to come on the MG run recently with the Riley, but had speedo problems which are now sorted. L1 is still in Nth. Coburg into its 4th yr. The finished chassis will be home shortly.

Kind regards
Nigel

Andrew, here is another local photo for you. My uncle preparing the Bira K3 (K3030)owned by Lex Davison and driven by John Barracough to win the 1949 Australian Hill Climb Championships in 1949. Beside him to the right is Ron Uffindel. Derry was friends with Otto Stone & Les Murphy as well & I am guessing your father & Derry crossed paths at some stage.
