I am looking for 12/12 type down draught inlet manifold and carburettor for my M type.
I have been told a Austin seven inlet manifold can be adapted to fit, can anyone comment on this?

Derek,

I have a spare 1 1/8” Downdraught SU carb, together with float bowl, which is of later period than M type, but it should do the job. Located in Cheshire to view. Photo available. £40 + postage.

Hi Derek,
Austin seven fits with slightest modification, I have done 2 of them. If you decide to go up to 1 1/4" su I can probably supply enough bits, but would need to check.

Very nice, Sam. Is that 2M1168 perchance?

It is indeed 2M1168. The high carburettor needs a fuel pump which in turn has allowed the petrol tank to be more safely mounted at the back.

Brilliant thanks for this. I am trying to find out which model of Austin Seven had this manifold fitted, maybe an Ulster or type 65. Will continue my quest and report back

I've no actual personal knowledge on this but my Austin 7 book by Rinsey Mills says these were fitted to the 65, 75, Nippy & Speedy models (not the Ulster as that used a steel manifold)

Derek. Have you tried Austin Repro in Dorset ? Willie MacKenzie makes many parts for Austins.
