Hello, In the parts of my 2 x J2s returned from Cyprus, I have a J-type steering column, this was identified by Mike Dowley at S & V, he has both my standard J2 column ( which I am keeping )and the F type one which is 7 inches longer. Now its possible that maybe Dudley Cottingham who raced J4129 at Brooklands had this F2 column fitted for some reason that only those who know about these things would be able to advise. Maybe he was tall and had buckets seats so needed the steering wheel set back further ? If this is not practical for J4129s reassembly then I could be persuaded to let it go. 01273 882593

Too bad you are on the right side of the pond. In March at the Chicagoland swap meet, there was a rough J2 body and a reasonably good flat back J2 petrol tank for sale. It could have been had for a song to anyone needing it. But the freight to the UK could put it on the north side of expensive.

Hello Charlie - a belated welcome to the Forum, as you will have noted you will always get plenty os assistance from so many knowledgable owners.

I note you have a F type, perhaps you could email me with the chassis number?

Best regards

Thank you for all your responses. I am after just a body and an engine as my car had its engine replaced with a modern ford Capri engine and a rather unsightley body.

I am trying to put it back to standard. The car is numbered, F1464 and was an F3.

I will follow up your leads.

Kind Regards

Hi Charlie,

There is a very good body maker in Hoilland, Rene Hoogmoed, who has made already a few bodies for top restorers.
He makes bodies for F2/J2/L2.
You can contact Rene direct on his email address: : ahoogmoed.m@tele2.nl
Highly recommended

Charlie,

If you're not yet sorted, there is a J2/F2/L2 body for sale in Safety Fast page 95 (Steve Gilbert 07836 244103).

Anything but scruffy and that's reflected in the price. On the other hand: a coat of paint, a handful of nuts and bolts and the job's done.

Brian
