One further selling point for Malvern View Guest House is that it has its own "country route" to Gotherington by way of a pre-war trials section called Bushcombe Lane. If you drive a little further up the road at Cleeve Hill in the direction of Winchombe, you then take a left turn immediately opposite the entrance to the golf club. This is the top of Bushcombe Lane which is now covered in tarmac but is very narrow and has at least two 1 in 4 sections. It is much more fun to drive up it from Gotherington and you should be sure of your brakes if going down. There is a photograph of a car being pulled up the hill by a posse of strong men in Roy Bacon's infamous book "The Golden Age of British Motoring" (page 142) although the caption suggests that it is Nailsworth Ladder - which is incorrect.
I always make a point of driving both up and down Bushcombe Lane in my 1934 M.G. PA whenever I attend PWP (mainly to avoid getting lost in the labyrinth of roads which is called Cheltenham.).

But we would describe them as Vintage Register cars as opposed to Triple-M Register cars Ian.

Colin,
You probably aren’t aware that there’s 'history' between the Early M.G. Society and the MG Car Club so not necessarily all the members of the former are members of the latter, and thus are not necessarily members of the Vintage Register.

Simon is correct. In this case, the EMGS committee approached me a few months ago to ask if they could be one of the clubs who gather under the PWP umbrella. This is one of the benefits of PWP, that clubs can gather within the larger gathering. As such, the EMGS will be allocated an area of the Paddock (just like the MMM Register), and they will be bringing their EMGS gazebo, etc. to mark out their patch.
If any MGCC VR members wish to enter, of course they would be most welcome, but would not be parked with the EMGS unless they have 'dual citizenship'! |

Yep! Fully aware thanks, and was using the term to describe the cars not the people.
Apologies if my terminology could of green better

No need to apologize Colin. Its the cars that count on the day!
Just to be right up to date, two more entries:
1934 MG PA Mike Wevill (VMR) 1932 MG M Philip Coombs (VMR)
That makes 10 M Types for MG90 so far. |

As of this morning, we have 138 entries and 293 climbs booked. Once we hit 300 climbs, which will probably happen by next Monday, we're going to have to reduce the number of pre-bookable climbs from two plus a free one to one plus a free one.
So if you are keen to make the most of the hill on the day, I STRONGLY recommend you submit your entry immediately. All bookings received or notified by tomorrow night will have climbs confirmed.
You can book immediately online at http://prewarprescott.com/?page_id=161 or you can fill in and return the Entry Form. If you decide to use the form, please notify me by PM'ing, giving your intentions, so that I can ensure your requested climbs are honoured.
It is going to be the best Pre-War Prescott by far, but I do need to make things as fair and as enjoyable as possible for all entrants.
If you have ANY questions, queries or concerns, please PM me immediately. |
