This nice old photo is listed on eBay. It may be of interest to someone. Thanks, Ian.

Not known! Another one! Registered in Manchester and therefore may be traceable!

Could the driver possibly be Gordon Rae?

It was suggested by Max Headroom in 2014 that he could be the beret wearing M type trials driver at the wheel of UW 5990. Photo taken at Bisley trials/rally.in 1950)

I am still seeking info on the whereabouts of 2M 0715. (My late father's first car in the 1950s). Any info on John Butt would also be welcome.

It certainly looks like the same driver, but in the end having discussed that UW 5990 picture with my father (Gordon is still his best friend) I/we decided it couldn't be him.
I can't remember exactly how we came to that conclusion but it might have been that we hadn't properly taken into account the date the photo was taken which would have made him way too old.

Thanks Max. Four years on and I am still no closer to finding the M Type. It might be that the last owner of UW 5990 (2M 0715) John Butt has long since divested himself of the car but without his last address (known to the MMM Register) I am stuck.

Hello Ray

Although we cannot give you J Butt's address we could write him a letter giving your contact details and asking if he still owns the car, and if not could he advise us/you of the details of whom he sold the car to.

Of course it is a shot in the dark as he may no longer live at the address the Register has on file.

Hello George. It might be worth a try. It has been tried before but with no response however another attempt would be appreciated. If there is no response I would be happy to sign an undertaking to keep the address confidential and if desired make a personal visit on behalf of the Register with whatever restrictions were deemed appropriate.
