HI,

Can anyone help with supplying the lower "ashtray" cover that fits on a J type remote change unit. The thing that is held by two screws under the gear lever.

Any help gratefully received

I used a 50gm Gold Block tobacco tin - exactly the right size - and made two little brackets to hold it!

This subject comes up from time to time. It seems as though there is some demand for these but I imagine the tooling needed to make a batch is too expensive. This was the thread which appeared last October.

I would still like to find one myself.

Many thanks everyone. I will have a go at making something up, I'm not sure tobacco tins are that easily available theses days but will keep an eye out.

I'm half wondering if an aluminium casting is the way to go, the pattern would only take an hour or two to make and they would only be about 310 to cast.

Or buy a sheet of tinplate and solder one together?

Guess what I used to smoke when it was not politically incorrect to smoke a pipe! First come first served.

The first 2 tins have been claimed. Are there any other takers?

Neil,
I have a bottom cover from a P type ( I think the J is the same.)
The screw centres are 4.7/8 inches and it's 7/8 inch deep.
