Ah a colonial model! Thanks for the tip but a steel body will make it a 1931 car and I should prefer a 1930 fabric body.

There are 2 for sale with Andy King, and one with Barrie Carter which looks an interesting one to finish. There is also one with Sussex Sports Cars which has been there for quite some time.

Thanks for the reply. I have visited Andy King and viewed what he has to offer - an immaculate 1931 car and a couple of basket cases. The Sussex Sports car M type has, as you say, been on offer for ages. I suspect the fact it is 1931 makes it less apealing - it certainly does for me. If it were a 1930 car and the price was reduced then it would be about what I am looking for; something to use, not to polish.
I had the same problem when I was looking for a Model A Ford a few years ago- nothing around to fit the bill. If I was looking with the same criteria today I would be spoilt for choice as there are several for sale at the moment.
Back to M types, I am aware of at 3 projects but no runners that really fit the bill.

OK Thank you for your involvement. Demand for these cars does seem high at the moment. I know of three basket cases but not sure I can face spending the next three years putting one back together.

I should have updated this some time ago! I now have a M type; MG1930 in fact although it is not the one that was widely photographed back in the 30's - it actually started life as JV291 and somehow has acquired that registration mark.
