This bit?

Insert Image:

It might be a Belgian number, but I doubt the photo was taken in Belgium as they don't have cliff side roads like that there, do they? The style of the plate is definitely Belgian with the seal between the two sets of three numbers. And while the style of the numbers themselves isn't exactly the same as the official Belgian plates from that era, only the rear plate was issued by the authorities and the front plate was made by yer local number plate shop so the style could vary a little. So my vote is for it being a Belgian car.

No.2 looks like the photo has been reversed, or the car quickly converted to LHD.

Is it possible that his left arm is simply much longer than his right?

I do not think the picture is reversed! The position of the bushes/rock in the background look to be in different position relative to the car.

Apart from the long arm theory perhaps the driver is now in the passenger seat in the second photo?

Unless MG produced a left-hand drive J2 (), I believe the second photo is indeed reversed. Although it is a slightly different photo from the first, it is apparent the driver has his arm over the top of the door in both photos. Also, about midway up the cliff face there is a very prominent rock projection which is clearly reversed in the second photo as opposed to the first. Lastly, the bush over the driver's head in the first photo is likewise reversed.

Elementary, my dear Watson.

The shade of the car is reversed.

The dead giveaway is there isn't a mirror mounted on the passenger side windscreen upright (look at the first picture).

I have a feeling there is Nick. Look at the pale vertical stripe above the leading end of the door handle.
