Can anyone please show me a photo of this mirror and/or give me the Lucas type number for it. I have both the Parts Book and Owners Manual for the N types but can't see any information on the dash mounted mirror.
Many thanks in advance

Did the N Types have interior dash/scuttle mounted mirrors?

Simon,

I have scuttle mounted interior mirror .

A dash mounted mirror would be interfering with the odometer of the PA/NA panel, I think.

Jos,

My question was prompted by the apparent lack of a scuttle mounted mirror in contemporary photos along with the absence of any listing in the Parts List. The same with the PA - nothing in the Parts List and not apparent in contemporary photos. Unlike the J2, of course, which had the dash mounted mirror listed up until the introduction of the revised windscreen with the external mirror.

This is the mirror on NA 0256, whether it is original or not is anyone's guess but hopefully there may be others like it out there.

My recollection is that there was no scuttle-mounted mirror on the Ps and Ns, but was likely added after market or as an orderable accessory. It certainly adds a degree of visibility.

I think it must have been an accessory. The parts book shows only an oval screen pillar mounted mirror.
I will have both dash mounted and square screen pillar mounted mirrors when I finally get round to it.
Many thanks for comments and especially to Jos for photos sent directly to me.

The N and the P had the same external mirror, as shown in the illustrated parts lists (Part No A389).I think it was a Lucas 160.I suspect The same mirror was fitted to the later J2.The L probably also used this mirror. The F tourer had the Lucas 160TMS having a special girder bracket.

My interest is in the oval mirror referred to in the earlier post.
The Add Equipment file - cannot find reference to mirrors
The Spare part list refers to A389 rectangular mirror
The Manual - cannot find any reference to mirrors.
As I have said my interest is in the oval mirror as there was one with the car 40 years ago and ones look to be original.
Thanks for comments

Hello Malcolm,

My PA also has an oval mirror which I assume may be an original fitment. Is yours the same type?

regards

Colin

Hi Colin,
Herewith are photos of the oval mirror on my ND, which has the K Type body. It has always been fitted as a wing mirror and I donít think it has ever been a dash mounted mirror
You can just see the Lucas emblem on the back of the mirror.
David I hope this discussion is helpful.

Sorry the pictures are upside down -again!

I wouldn't bother fitting one. I had one similar to Jos's and the only thing you could see was yours and your passengers shoulders!
