1932 MG M-Type Project– One of the last 50 produced.
What’s done:- Chassis cleaned and re-painted. Andre Hartford’s re-built with new bushes/plates mounted on new pins. Springs re-tempered and fitted with all new shackle pins. Engine totally re-built and runs (short duration as cooling system is “dry”) Re-machined at Hamlin’s of Bridgwater. All new white metal bearings Rockers re-stellited by Morris Minor club. Solid spacers fitted between rockers. C-type cam fitted (supplied by Barry Foster) Alloy sump New clutch New Clutch single sided thrust bearing. Correct one-piece inlet/exhaust manifold fitted with new exhaust system New radiator shell and new v-shaped cored radiator & tanks fitted. Dynamo checked, Starter re-wound (6v). Correct cut-out & wiring loom (new), dip/horn switch with cast stalk & dash starter button available. Gearbox stripped and re-built. 5 wheels re-built by Tony Margle – 4 painted and fitted. 4 new AVON “Sidecar triple duty” 350x 19 tyres. All new brake system (shoes, linings, adjusters, cables, finned drums) Steering column re-built with Stainless tube from Barry Foster. New body by Dave Cooksey – correct “short boot” with shelf behind seat for folding hood. All metalwork available – wings and bonnet and 2-piece valances trial fitted. Hood frame available (new) – needs bolts replacing with correct rivets & cleaning & painting New fuel tank manufactured and painted.

What needs to be done:- Metalwork – final fit & finish (wings, valances rear chassis covers). Body needs skinning – I have aluminium sheet available Body needs painting (once skinned) Headlights need restoring or replacement (correct ROTAX ones are on the car) Tail light(s) need finding / fitting. Battery needs providing/fitting Windscreen frame (Barry Walker’s) needs glazing and chroming (after final fit) 5th road wheel needs cleaning / painting & tyre/tube providing & fitting. Full outfit of trim required (carpets, seats, trim panels & hood). Door locks need finding / fitting. Steering wheel boss needs repair and wheel recovered (or replacing) Two more bonnet catches need providing (I have 2 bonnet & 2 apron catches – should have 4 bonnet) Differential needs to be correctly set –up – spare diff (needs stripping/re-building) - available. Due to long term storage the chassis could probably do with dismantling and chassis clean/ re-paint. Car will need registering with DVLA on completion – chassis had no V5 when purchased from MGCC member 26 years ago. MGCC / MGOctC should be able to help with this – the car is on the MGCC MMM Register – MGCC chassis records give Date of 1st Reg only. Query in hand with Kithead Trust in an attempt to find the original registration. Everything that has been done has been done as correctly and as “period” as possible – unfortunate changes in personal circumstances mean this project needs to go to someone who can finish it and enjoy what should be a lovely example of the marque. All the difficult and expensive work is complete and parts provided/fitted hence the price reflects the entire package. Car is available immediately in South Somerset – car will be released on receipt of cleared funds (Cash cheque or Bank transfer). Can deliver in UK at (additional) buyers cost – would prefer collection.

Price 15,000 GBP (ovno)
