1930 MG for sale in Bedfordshire. Registration number MG 748, Chassis number 2M/1506. V5 in my name, Original log book and VSCC Buff Form. I have decided to sell my 1930 Midget, mainly because I have my eye on another project, but also because I’m just not using it enough. I bought the car in 2012 with 1450 miles on the clock, it now has 1588. With the exception of the dummy fuel tank modification at the rear of the body, the car is largely to the factory specification and has the original engine and transmission. It could be re-bodied to the original boat tailed shape, although that might be a shame as I believe the current body has been on the car for more than half of its life. The asking price however reflects the fact that it’s a little different from its brothers and sisters. The engine is original and has just been completely rebuilt. The engineering work was done by T&L Eng of Elstow Beds, and a copy invoice is available which fully details the work done. They also re white metaled and machined the bearings to suit the crank. The head was completely rebuilt with a 12/12 cam, new rockers, shafts and valve gear. The vertical drive and camshaft gear set was renewed. The clutch was rebuilt during the engine rebuild. The wheels were rebuilt by MWS in 2008 and I understand that the brakes were overhauled in 2010 The radiator was rebuilt and the shell fettled and chrome plated by The Vintage Car Radiator Company in 2016 Advisory items………. The dynamo is not charging and will need to be removed and renovated but the battery was bought new in 2017 and gives a good performance. Whilst it’s perfectly usable as is, there’s no doubt that the doors and bodywork could do with tidying.
