This J2 was manufactures the 31/10 1933 on chassis N° J4288 Its first owner, Mr.Cairns entered the car in the London to Lands End Trial and achieved a bronze medal. Restored first in Luxembourg, this MG was used successfully until 2013 when the crankshaft broke. A full rebuild with a new block was then taken by a very well know specialist in Antwerp and included many improvements: billet steel crankshaft, increased capacity, rods and pistons to match. Re-profiled camshaft, lightened flywheel with diaphragm clutch and external cartridge oil filter. The cost was 6500€. This engine is torquey and powerful and top speed of the car is well above the capabilities of the braking system. Bodywork was renewed and resprayed recently. Wheels are new MWS, with Avon tires “as new”. Distributor has been tuned; discreet traffic lights an an electronic rev.counter added. Full tonneau cover, hood and side screen in good condition. New electric wiring with the required fuses. Cooling improved with electric fan and pump managed by thermostat. Many spares including the old block (in good condition ) and literature come with the car. The Halda Tripmaster (worth 750€) used for rallies can easily be removed. The brakes received new linings still in need of “bedding” in. The new owner will need to be careful. The car has FIA papers, Royal Veteran Car Club of Belgium certificate and MG Rover conformity documents. This MG is registered in France and garaged in the south (1 hour ride from Nice airport). Can eventually be delivered to Ostend or Calais (in October.) Contact: Jean-Pierre by email or phone: +33494678059
