Can anyone advise on shipping a gearbox to the USA? Recommended carriers, crating, insurance and paperwork advice sought. Is there likely to be import duty, and/or how does one describe the goods to avoid this?

Avoid UPS on any international shipments, Stay with a smaller carrier that doesn't have its own customs clearance operation.

Mark the package "Antique Automobile Part" and it is less likely to attract duty.
