Or rather EX120 photos at Montlhery with a particular car in the background.
I am researching the history of one of the MG Tigers (some call them Tigresses, 18/100, mk3 etc) This car, B0251, was used to ferry an engine from the factory to France for EX120 and appears in one of Mike Allison's books, but I have been told there is more than one photo of it in the company of EX120 in existence. Can anyone help point me in the right direction to locate more pictures?
The car is actively being restored here and I am keen to ensure as much of the historical groundwork is covered as possible

Hi Kevin, I have the 18/80 Mk 11 prototype .... lots of "wrong" stuff compared to production Mk 11s. It acquired a lot of B0251s parts... the dash and instruments, cylinder head and ancillaries and gearbox, I expect some other non standard Mk 11 parts may also have come from B0251. I understood the car was seriously damaged and then broken for spares many of the parts ending up with Chris Barker and his two Mk 111s. There are a lot of untold stories about these cars... and confusion. My car has a Mk 1 chassis number, Mk 1 narrow body made to fit the wider chassis, an engine with MG octagons cast in it, light alloy brakes and so on. JO29, a Mk11 chassis number was known at Abingdon and a Tigress.... When I had the car it still had a lot of its Mk111 special parts and part of the tree that had grown up through it! Never a dull moment with our cars! FOZ |

Hi Foz
B0251 was the car that came out to New Zealand in the 1930s complete. The one you are describing is B0252.
Agree though, never a dull moment |

I think the ones on Barry's car are from the one that was bombed during the war and Chris Barker obtained all the bits. Geoff Radford would be able to tell you as he has an encyclopaedian knowledge of the what we here call the Tigress and I understand that he built Barry's car.

Thanks Kevin, nice to have facts that are real and "trump" any other stories!!! Noted in my file of info on the car to avoid any future confusion.
I first tried to buy the 18/80 in about 1974 from Morgan Marshall........ in the end started the rescue of JO29 instead..... but that is another story. FOZ |
