Dear All
I am about to dispose of an deceased friend's BMW - 1997 523i under 100,000 miles, a few niggling problems because it has been standing. He had it from new in South Africa.
Is anyone interested before I drive it off to the scrap yard?
It is in Ilminster, Somerset...
Cheers

Peter , I regret that lack of towbar rules it out for me. They are expensive , and together with associated electrics time consuming. My apologies. Fred |

Thanks Fred...
Anyone else?
It goes to the scrap man on 1 Oct...
Which is a pity as it starts first time and is low milage...
It was sitting where the new garage is going so it has to go...

Have you tried "We buy any car"? They don't give much but at least the car wouldn't be scrapped.

Peter. I am mildly interested in giving the car a home. Are the "niggling problems" likely to prevent my driving it home to West Sussex ? Also does it have a current M.O.T. and Tax ?

Sadly Colin the days of driving a newly bought car on it's existing (sellers) car tax are long gone you would have to tax any car you buy before driving it away (things aren't as easy as they used to be!)

No Colin, and if any person or organisation other than a Government agency were to operate such a system, it would rightly be regarded as a scam and legal efforts would be made to stop it.
