I have been contacted by Gary Clare who has a Jap-engined VSCC eligible special. It has Triple-M 8" cable brakes which were fitted many moons ago by Mike Allison.
The front axle brake back plates have developed cracks adjacent to the mounting boss for the brake shoe mountings (not at the cam - the other end!) and he would like to know:
a) can the boss be safely repaird by welding or other means , and
b) if not, does anyone have a pair of 8" backplates that he could buy?
