Just looking at some photos taken in 1934 when my father took his then new J2 (4199) to Germany travelling down the Rhine and into Bavaria.Four of these attached. Maybe our German friends would recognise the locations. The towns are Nordlingen and Rothenburg. The images do enlarge quite well. Simon C.

Hi Simon, second picture, the rock on the right bank of the Rhine is the Loreley
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorelei
the first picture, could be the Town Boppard, view from the north,

The J2 is heading south, from Koblenz on the B9 , both pictures taken on the same road.

Many thanks for locations on the Rhine. Yes, he was coming down from Koblenz and Heidelberg and I have photos from there as well. Remarkable how little traffic there was. the river steamer is really pushing out the smoke -burning old tyres?? Simon C. |

Unfortunately there is no Google Street View on this road. I was able to use Street View to identify exactly where some pictures of my car had been taken along the Antrim Coast Road in Norn Iron.

Hi Simon, yes, it is remakable how little the traffic at that time was, I have no figures for 1934, but in 1935 just 440000 cars registrated in Germany, that is 1% we now have.
