Interesting letter in the latest VSCC Bulletin regarding MG L2 Reg No MG 2517 inwhich a previous owner describes his purchase of the car in 1965 for £5 !
The car was apparently finished in BRG a with silver wheels.
Perhaps George Eagle can tell us more about the car ?

It's L2030. The green/silver wheels combo may have been an interim stage in the car's evolution, as the factory records indicate that it would have been grey from new - as indeed it may still be now!

Hi. I was the owner of L2030 as above and had it for 22 years. She was brush painted in brg with silver wheels and had a slatted radiator. I found another meshed shell at Richardsons in Staines and put that on. I changed the 16" rear wheels for 19" and resprayed her black with maroon wheels. I did 2 VSCC Silverstone races and an MGCC race at Brands Hatch. I then ran a big end on the way to VSCC Shuttleworth which put paid to the racing exploits. I later painted her grey (as it was from new as you say) and kept the maroon painted wheels. I sold her in 1987 to Dave Jarvis and the last time I saw her, she was in the Brooklands Museum
Guy (since then I have turned to Talbots!)

Thanks, all.

My first N type, a four seater NA cost all of £26 in 1963, though it came with a full set of new tyres !( My mother bought it for me with a view to keeping me away from motorcycles.)

The memory of first seeing that car still excites me to this day.

Ah Chris,
"..........My mother bought it for me with a view to keeping me away from motorcycles."
When I got my PB in 1962, it was likened to a '4 wheeled motor bike', never got into motorised two wheelers!...... touché....!!!

Hello Guy

We were in touch and you kindly submitted a photo of L2030 which is posted to the file for the car. On the reverse it noted "Resting whilst the bar is open"!

£5 must have been the going rate at that time - my PA cost £4. 10 shillings but that also included the small tree growing thro the floor and a Blood donors card from which I eventually traced the owner !! Paul W
