I don’t think the Bluemel and Ashby bosses are interchangeable. Is the one in the photo from an Ashby wheel?

Alan,

You can see that the Bluemel boss (bottom) has the retaining bolts closer to the outer circumference than the Ashby boss (top). Your broken one looks to have the spacing of the Ashby one. Much harder to find!

Can you post a picture of the wheel itself?

my f2 had an ashby wheel but it was a bit rough so I fitted a Blumells wheel and it fitted straight on although the top did eventually break like that one but it was not difficult to make a new one

Wow! An Ashby.

Terry,
The problem is that one half of a Bluemel boss won't fit the other half of an Ashby boss as the bolt holes won't align.

Looks like I need the top half of an Ashby or both parts of a blumells.

There are other differences between the Bluemel and Ashby hubs and how each fits.

It’s hard to tell from the picture I posted above but I 'think' the boss/hub on that example was as deep as the Bluemel one. Looks like they may vary.

Bob, why not get the boss welded up and then machine/mill out correct grooves. Looks a fairly ordinary welding job. good luck, Nick.

Hello,

I noticed that Abingdon Spares in the States lists a used J2 Brooklands hub under the sued parts.

Cheers,
Dan

I have welded these up and tried to follow the correct procedures / use of filler metal but would only trust a welded mystery alloy part for display purposes.
