On another recent thread there was discussion of a hole in the side pillar alongside the petrol tank. This discussion was inconclusive but I have another "holes" question re original M type bodies. This relates to 2 counter sunk holes in the area of the brass chassis plate. I have had three different M types where this part of the body had not been replaced and all have had the same 2 holes. The 2 seaters were both in the same place and were visible just below the chassis plate whereas the Coupe showed the holes just above the plate. Does anybody have any idea what they were for?
Just curious really.

They were the attachment for a piece of wood to which the top of the footboard would be attached.







It's the clean piece below the petrol tank support board.

On the right can be seen the other one of my mystery holes - still nobody has come up with a prospective reason for it.
