The Register committee is always working on ways of improving the facilities available to members including through this website. We have one interesting project currently under development which, whilst still at the early stages, we thought you might like to know about.
Many of you will be familiar with 'virtual electronic assistants' such as Alexa and Siri? The plan is to introduce a similar facility for the Forum. The virtual assistant will be named Avril and she will encode technical enquiries raised by members, will reference them against a technical database held by the Register, process this knowledge and then come up with an automatically generated response - hopefully containing relevant and useful information in reply to the question raised.
At present the facility is being prepared for use in the English language only, but as matters progress it is hoped that other languages can be accommodated too.
Progress is inevitably rather slow because the project team generally only meets on one day of the year, but we are hoping that given enough time we will have a worthwhile product to benefit us all.
