A couple pictures from my files of M Midgets and probably 18-80s in production. I'm unsure of the date but guess it to be 1930, shortly after the move. Did you know that MG first leased the Pavlova works before purchasing it? I've got a copy of the lease.

Yes, these are 18/80 mark 2s. As such, with that number on the line, you'd be looking at March 1930 onwards |

In the first picture apart from the Mk2 18/80's and M types there is a Sportsman Coupe, Mike Allison told me that these weren't built until about March 1930, so that all sounds about correct.

Where is everybody? The factory looks deserted. Could it be 21st April 1930?
Do I see three Coupés ?

No Sam, it's March 2020 and they're all working from home.

Joking apart, the pictures are clearly the work of a professional photographer. The best time to take pictures without disturbance or disrupting his weekend would be on a public holiday. Easter Monday fell on 21st April 1930.
The images are good but I wish the photographer had been less interested in the roof.

Now if could just find and get really deep into the archives of all these old photos I’m sure there are many more interesting ones. It’s a real challenge, and once in a while I come across a jewel. Like the lease for Pavlova, and a chunk of MGs accounting records from 1943-49 I found two years ago in quite unlikely places.

The M.G. Car Company Ltd., Pavlova Works, Abingdon-on-Thames. The letter envelope was stamped July 14, 1932 6 days after the purchase of the F-Type. Can you understand the meaning?
