I attach a picture of J3755 in its present form. Nev is inching forward and hopes to complete the mammoth rebuild in a matter of months. Further photographs will appear shortly.

Colin,
This is one of my favourite pictures of J3755 in action in the 1933 Monte Carlo Rally. They were made of stern stuff back in them days. Congratulations to Nev for a tremendous effort in getting so far, so quickly.

Well done to Nev, the car is looking really good. The late Ron Grant would have been very pleased.

Wow ! that looks a very stiff chassis with the near side wheel supported and the off side one remaining level ........ or is it an optical illusion I wonder !!!

I think it is an optical illusion Ray. I will ask Mr Churcher to explain himself.

Incidentally, whilst I was able to attach the photo of the car without difficulty, I am unable to attach a number of additional photos. The successful one is a "jpeg" file but the unsuccessful ones are shown on my computer as "compressed file wizz". I am sure that means something to some of you, but regrettably I am not one of those. Can you "techies" explain what a compressed file wizz is and what I need to do to attach it to forum posting. Thanks in anticipation of hearing from some of you.

It looks to me that the whole car is supported on a lift. The illusion is that the front nearside is NOT sitting on the red block, which I think is part of the lift.

Usually if you click on the file, explorer opens with the option to "Extract all" which will decompress them (I am assuming you are using Windows 10?)

Having seen the car it is on wooden trestles. One little problem Nev has is to actually get it off them and onto the ground.
We discussed getting a few strong chaps in to just lift it off but due to the current situation this is not feasible.
Any ideas how Nev could possibly do it himself? It is quite high, possibly too high for a couple of normal trolley jacks to remain stable.

How about, jack up one end an inch or so over the trestle height, replace trestle with pallets, lower. Repeat with the back end. Jack up front end again and remove one pallet, lower to new height, jack up back end remove one pallett, lower to new height; repeat until on the ground.,

An engine crane would do the job, a little bit at a time at each end as Ian has suggested.

What will come first the finish of J3755 or the next Leather Bottle?

Thank you Dick, those are the pictures that I failed to print. Just look at that crisp M.G. logo in the door pocket. And I can almost hear Nev saying brrmm brrmm to himself whilst sitting on the lovely Collingburn seats.

Incidentally, I have both a hydraulic engine crane and a hand operated portable hoist which are available to Nev as soon as I can be certain that the Gosport bat plague is not going to attack me.

I have a print of this car ,the one where the three men are studying the route map.It brings it to life seeing the actual car being restored.
