Dear MG owners, For various reasons I have started the process of winding down upholstery work.
I am accepting work but only on the condition it involves using materials I have or can obtain easily to do the job, like a hide from Connollys to cover your seats etc. Email queries to collingburn@btinternet.com if I can supply I will or suggest others in UK and there is the very passionate MG trimmer Tom Wilson at Kimber Creek Ltd in USA. Once wrapped up I will be out of the game indefinitely, no workshop, no nuttin' for however long is needed...
I'll be relocating to be closer to family and taking the business with me isn't an option. I'll be an employee somewhere and may not even be upholstery related. A change is as good as a rest they say :-)
Stay safe, find enjoyment where you can, peace everybody, James x

Hi James, I fully respect your decisions, and hope that other will to. The past 12 months or so has probably seen many stop, assess, and reassess their current situations and priorities regarding work, family, and quality of life etc. Collingburn for many, is the RR of upholstery, so from that angle it is quite a loss, but you have to be the top priority. Best Regards Colin

Thank you Colin, much appreciated. I didn't come to the decision lightly, been a long time coming but is the right one, there is no doubt. It's not a goodbye, just a see you later for an unknown period of time. Kind Regards James :-)

If it's right for you, James, then go for it. I'm sure we've all, or most of us, benefitted from your expertise, and your Dad's, over the years and let's hope that others in the future can do likewise when you feel ready to return to the fray. In the meantime, I admire your commitment to something much more important than indulging those of us who are, perhaps, largely insulated from the pandemic that surrounds us.

Thank you gents. It will take a few months to complete my current workload and turn instock materials into product but I certainly won't be buying anymore once used. If anyone requires anything making in leather or PVC ie: interior/wing piping (I know all common lengths), Door check straps, leather Gaiters for Handbrake, Speedo cable etc. in Apple Green, Cerulean Blue, Maroon/Dark Red, Black etc.
Just email collingburn@btinternet.com or phone/text/whatsapp 07932257046 and I will respond in due course :-) Regards James Collingburn |

Dear MG owners, Update: My exit strategy is gaining momentum. I am relocating and closing the Upholstery business as soon as is possible. If you require anything trim related then now is the time to contact me. All I need to know is model, trim colour, what items/materials you require? And I'll be able to say very quickly if I can make and supply or not. Email: collingburn@btinternet.com or +44 79 322 57046
I will be an employee somewhere and may not even be Upholstery related. Kind Regards James |
