I've stumbled over a record from 1988 in which this gentleman tells us about a single seat special with the followinmg characteristics. Does it ring a bell with anyone?

1935
1086cc 'prototype K3'
single seater
1923 Darracq radiator
Transmission: GN/Frazer Nash chain driven
Brakes: Front: Lea Francis, Rear: GN

Made by Richard V C Bolster first with a V twin GN engine, then the Thompson and Taylor prototype K3 engine, then later 4 x Rudge 500cc engines, then later a 4.25 litre Hudson engine (!)

Car then rebuilt with the MG engined spec, where it was raced at
Brooklands, Donington and most hill climbs and sprints pre-War.

Competed and came 3rd in the first VSCC race of 1936.

Is this perchance 'Bloody Mary'?

In 1988 Mr. Wigglesworth was also talking of obtaining an L1

I think this is the Richard Bolster Special Monoposto.

I agree this was the Richard Bolster special. I have seen the car competing at hill climbs - probaly Prescott.

Bloody Mary was far lower and powered by two JAP? 2 engines.

I seem to recall that it carried a reputation by its drivers as having rather unpredictable handling and suffered the odd crash in its time

I saw this car at Paul Jayes workshop in the 80s.Believe this was then rebuilt by Paul Jaye, appeared with a London dealer. It was then purchased and raced by Paul Smeeth.
Prepared for him by John Bibby and was fitted with two superchargers.

Paul crashed at Silverstone, and the car was rebuilt and then sold on.
