Happy New Year.
in my home state of Victoria Australia, during the 1930's the VIN of a car was the engine number In chasing up information on some L types I seem to see odd variations in the engine numbers. For my N type, the engine is 556A (std pistons) 134N (early single breather N type).
The L types typically have the engine number XXX A then the 97 (L type K series block) but the letter can be L, G, C or 0
e.g. L2069.... Guarantee plate says 809AL, but the engine is stamped 809 A 97 0
This is inconsistent with the J, P and K types I've seen.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
regards,
Andrew
