Hi Colin, MWS sell the correct design K3 wheels, and have you considered making a cowled rad, would avoid having to find a K3 rad and shell. Rear axle John Seber/Tom Dark and front axle Tom Dark.

Perhaps TD inherited the K3 front axle pattern that was produced by Ron Grant?

Chris, I bought my K3 front axle from TD well before Ron died, I seem to remember that TD also supplied Barry Walker? could be wrong it was a few years ago!

Hello, Paul.
Long time no speak! Hope you are well.
Perhaps the explanation was that TD had Peter Gregory’s equipment, he had a tremendous amount of K type stuff.
Regards,
Chris

Colin, I have sent you an email.

Thanks Paul,
I know it is possible to get new bits & I'll probably have to have a new front axle but hope to find some original parts before shelling out for new ones!
Chris - have you got any spare bits left over?
Thanks Colin.

Hi All
Our K3 axles are machined all over to original shape and design from a rough steel forging in EN24T
They are not cast like Ron Grants and Gregorys.

My understanding is that the Ron Grant front axle pattern was destroyed following his death, to prevent its reuse on safety grounds. There had been casting problems involving metal shrinkage tearing during metal cooling.

I don’t think the pattern problem was ever successfully ironed out.

This was no reflection on Ron Grant who we all know was a skilled engineer of the highest order.

Thanks Nick,

Cheers,
