What is the best source for - especially rear - number plate backplates in the correct shape and dimensions?

As a period alternative to attaching a separate number plate to the backing plate you could simply have the number painted directly onto the backing plate.

One of the old heavy UK plates works. Probably stops parking dents as well. This is how I bought my PA in California. (With TF reflectors and PB dash.)
