I have just purchased 3 photos of MG 2307 which I believe may possibly be J2778? Do we know who the current custodian is?

This car (J2778) was owned back in the 1960s by our very own Christopher Hobbs – currently Registrar, for some of the k type models.
As far as we know the car is now reposing with a US owner named Steneberg on the West Coast but all attempts to contact him have been unfruitful.

Hello. I know George Steneberg and the J2 very well. I will pass along the info. I spoke to him a couple days ago and will spend a few days with him later this month.

Cheers,

Hi, Neil,

George or his daughter will email you. George purchased the J2 in England in 1965 and had it shipped deck-cargo to San Francisco. He got the original log book with it. It was white at the time as in the photos. George restored the J2 all by himself over 25 years.

George has made a splendid job of the rebuild. I also think that it is great the the Register has now made contact with such a long-term owner.

This car is now for sale on Bring a Trailer in the USA (on line auction). There is a fine video of someone expertly driving it on the sale site.

Being sold due to health reasons.

Having seen the video, I am not being critical... but do they all sound like that?

This J2 sold last week as a running/drivable car with high quality cosmetics for $34,112.50 Dollars or 26,833.61 Pounds, which is respectable price given Cream Cracker tan and brown paint scheme (in US tan and brown is often considered very 1970's colors albeit Cream Cracker may allow an exception given fame), contrasting green interior, hydraulic brakes, a literally "huge" repair plate on the left side of the crankcase which in some near area is supposedly leaked ant-freeze from a point or points, and some minor "this and that" authenticity items that most all J2's seen to have a few of one way or another.
