I am aware of these plates being riveted on the rocker cover of certain MMM models including F, J, K, L, models but I have never seen one for the N or P types.
Was this to save costs?
Comments would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

On both my PA and NA, there is no evidence of a rocker box plate.

Chris,

Only plates I've seen on P/N covers is the BRITISH PATENTS plate. Not nearly as kool as the big brass spec plates.

What about J3s? The owner's manual shows the valve cover plaque to be unique to the model.

I can't answer that one, as I don't have a J3. (Although I'm open to donations).

John, it is. If you remember Nev Churcher borrowed mine J3 3772 to have copies made. This was completed several months ago and as far as I know, they all now have a home.

Nev saw to it that I got one, and it is now in place. Gerhard Maier and I once discussed whether the factory made such plaques for specialty cars like the K3 and J3. I never knew, or had forgotten, that Ian had an original.

While one always needs to treat factory photos with a certain degree of caution when it comes to determining originality, this photo would certainly support the view that J3 engines had such plates.
