I am looking for a carburettor body or complete unit for my M type.
Throat diam 1 1/8" (28.575mm) and horizontal bolt fixing 2 3/16" (55.5mm) centres. I have a 1" carb. so many of the parts are interchangeable. I can build up a unit from all the bits, if I have the correct size body

Bronze or ali?

Do these have vertical spindles or horizontal?

If you get the right kind of body you'll need a 1+1/4" carb for the bits. From what I've seen only the smaller type as fitted to Sprites and post war Minors accepted 1" carb parts.

Kevin's question reminds me of this carburettor -

Could a vertical spindle carburettor body be converted to horizontal spindle?

Another challenge is that the mounting holes on the flange are about half a hole wider . The difference is exaggerated in this picture.

Is a conversion possible?

Sam

Many years ago I purchased half of a 1 1/8" bronze carb. pair from Barry Walker
He told me that they were off an L-Type.
It was a perfect fit to the M-Type manifold.

It was when Barry was still in Kent - so I suppose he has parted with the other half by now !

So the bronze float chamber works OK on an M-type?

As I understand it, the bronze bodies with the vertical spindle are a Riley version...

So many dynamos

What is your point Sam ??

Obviously it works on an M-Type.

And yes, I realise that the top you show is opposite to mine.

There is a SU on the tradersform, that might be what you’re looking for. See Barrie Walker’s post named Some MMM Oddments.

Complete original 1&1/8th bronze MG 'M/D' genuine carburettor...
