Peter Evans made these models... many of you will know him from his various Triple Ms he had... P/J/F included. He was also involved with Morgan Marshall and his 18/80s... and was my co-conspirator in cutting down the tree that had grown up through the chassis of the Mk 11 18/80 ( reg JO29)... this car had a Mk 111 engine and was the Shell Petroleum test car.... after Morgan's death the car eventually ended up as a very shiny Tigress replica.. Pete had to give up Triple Ms due to health reasons and now uses his skills building display Meccano from his several tons of parts..... The MGs are simply superb and the garage is fully kitted out in period "meccano" made items. FOZ
How interesting, the F type was modelled on F0399, Registration MG 1410. The car has an early Register number 519 and is currently recorded as being owned by M Aubert in France. There was a small information sheet in front of the model with 3 photos of the F type which enabled me to identify the car.
The detail of the three cars and the others in the garage was amazing.
Peter Evans restored MG1410 with an N-type engine. It went from Peter Evan's to Northern Ireland as part of the deal that brought Oliver Richardson's C-type back to the UK. It later went to Marc Aubert in France but has moved on.... Marc Aubert now has my F3 .. restored to F2 (sort of...) spec.
Sack cloth department..... I have been shown a factory document which is for the 18/80 JO29 and in the model box is MK111 so I am put in my place that the factory considered A0351 as a Tigress. So this is the very first MG to get a name...... and turned from an MG A type to an MG B type. Tigress. The next named cars were the Montlhery Midgets. and thats the lot! FOZ
Hi Simon, the F-type was in the UK the C-type in Belfast..... things got exchanged at the Fox and Hounds about 4 miles from here..... Oliver did not know this happened until he was outbid on C0253 so had the consolation prize of a van load of C-type! FOZ
It must be something in the water in the West Country as the folks organising the Kearnow Wheals Tour reckoned that St Ives was the most westerly point in the UK!
Westerly points,.... and hot potatoes in Cornish pasties.... all very interesting......as to the water... getting worse with Hinckley C making Chinese rice wine.... UK....???? Foreign and Commonwealth Office says all BATs don't count ! BATs = British Overseas `territories . as my Granny used to say 6p to post a letter to any of our colonies..... FOZ or even FUZZY
I know we say 6"P" in the modern idiom but olden times would have been a genuine 6 pence.... and yes I know the Romans were responsible for their "d".... funny that we never said 6 "D".... FOZ a bit behind the times... as usual!
