This is probably one for our M Type Registrar Mike D to follow up.
The car is in Lytham St Annes and the recorded owners are a couple named Wadman. Any relation to Gerry Wadman of Sussex Sports Cars, one wonders?

Despite the claim "to FULL Brooklands Spec" it is lacking the 44 spoke wheels that a Brooklands car should have.
Just nit picking !

Forum:

Is there a list for Brooklands Specification?
The 44 spoke wheel note has started this line of thought.
How where such matters established? Enforced?
Did such matters effect other forms of competitive car events.?
Enough questions; for the moment.
All the best.

I thought that it looked really nice, but must admit never got around to counting the spokes on the wheels! Still like it all the same!

The sales brochure for the 8/45 h.p. Midget Sports "Double Twelve" model
The above is identical to the standard two seater model with the following exceptions:-
Body
Cut away doors and special windscreen in glass or gauze to fold flat.
Real leather upholstery. Special headlamp brackets and front wing cross bar.
Extra latrge petrol tank for 9 gallons with quick action filler cap.Strap to bonnet. Extra strong road wheels.
Engine.
Carefully prepared with a special cam and stronger valve springs.
Special exhaust and induction manifold and carburettor.
Brooklands silencer. special clutch linings.
Electrical.
Special dynamo wound to give output at high speeds and same applies to the coil.Special distributor.
Standard speedometer, ammeter and oil guage, in addition oil and water thermometers are fitted.
Special clutch linings.
If required an undertray can be fitted and chassis prepared for long distance events by wiring and split pinning all nuts and bolts. For these two items an additional charge would be made according to requirements.

So the specification did include "Stronger wheels" so the 44 are correct, but how were they laced in relation to a standard wheel which have 12 sets of three = 36.
The ones in the photograph are both centre laced and have 12 spokes on the outer lacing, so there are 32 centre lacing which go to the inside of the hub.
However on a standard wheel all the spokes go to the centre of the wheel and therefore there must be less space between the spokes on the standard wheel. Is that why it is not as strong? If you follow!

Thanks for the pic, Sam - makes me look quite presentable.
Standard 36 spoke wheels are 12/24 for long & short & are centre laced

44 spokers are 12/32 for long and short but are centre/side laced. Also the rim is wider, presumably to answer the strength question.

The hubs are identical except that there are, obviously more holes drilled for the short spokes. Also the short spokes are single crossed unlike the standard which are double crossed.

This is a wheel on a genuine 12/12 M-type
