There is an M Type for sale on eBay at the moment which might be of interest to someone. The starting price seems sensible. I have no connection with the car. Here’s the link:

This car failed to attract any bids, and has now been re-listed at:

The starting bid is now set at Ł13,500. It does not appear to be listed on the Register.

I've had some correspondence with the seller, who has confirmed the following:

To confirm MG chassis No.2/M1297. Engine 1152A. Number on Chassis and log books buff and green continuation book. Car 1st registered April 1930. [I] had a look at file but no details on work on engine. This was way back before I came to own it.

On the eBay site he notes that the clutch is slipping, so probably best to consider an "engine out" job. At that money it sounds as if it is worth considering. I've been tempted myself, but decided that funds and garage won't stretch to it.
